While in university a strong interest in men’s fur clothing lead Leon Emanuel Blanck to conduct in-depth research into the German fur and leather manufacturing industry. This sparked the inspiration for Blanck’s first brand "noelleon", launched in 2010, which later became Leon Emanuel Blanck.
Blanck’s brand signature is what he calls “Anfractuous Distortion.” In this process Blanck creates a cast around the moving human form. The cast then becomes the prototype for each clothing piece. Naturally created seam lines in the prototype are adjusted accordingly to create the final piece. This boundary-pushing pattern making method abolishes symmetry and introduces garments that spiral fluidly around the body. Blanck considers each of his works pieces of sculpture that come to life once worn.
