Swedish designer Alexander William’s carefully crafted label, Atelier Aura, returns to Gallery Aesthete for Spring 2019. Our selection includes the unfussy, comfortable and beautifully detailed pieces that Aura has become known for, in an earthy palette of deep green, eggshell, charcoal and black.
Pieces like the Ásta tank and Ottó shorts deliver sophistication with warm–weather ease, while more sartorial pieces, such as the Águst linen coat, present refined tailoring with rugged and impeccable details, including hand stitching, raw hems, and buffalo horn buttons.
William has created a slow and precious world, in which the selection of natural fabrics comes first, leading to smartly constructed pieces with just enough edge (thanks to techniques like hand painting and molten rubber coating.) Aura’s fabric selections for spring include organic Swedish linen, an airy, organic linen gauze, and lightweight, organic cotton jersey.
What began as William having his own wardrobe tailored into one–of–a–kind silhouettes blossomed into Aura, an effort to fuse artisanal making with avant–garde sensibility. Encapsulating Japanese aesthetic beliefs about finding beauty in imperfection while also taking cues from the work of master craftsmen like Maurizio Amadei of m.a+, William has built Aura according to his own precise vision.
